Beef Nihari

Ingredients

  1. Beef 1 kg (large pieces)
  2. Garlic paste 1 tbsp
  3. Ginger paste 1 tbsp
  4. Fennel seed powder 3 tbsp
  5. All spice powder 1 tbsp
  6. Cumin seed powder 1 tbsp
  7. Salt 1 ½ tbsp
  8. Plain flour 5 tbsp
  9. Green chilies 8 (chopped)
  10. Fresh coriander 1 bunch (chopped)
  11. Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  12. Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  13. Fresh ginger 5 tbsp (chopped)
  14. Oil ½ cup
  15. Water as required

Recipe

  1. Heat oil and fry the ginger, garlic paste and beef for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt and fry for more 5 minutes.
  3. Add 1,½ liters water, bring to the boil, then cover and cook on low heat until the meat is tender.
  4. Remove the meat from the pan.
  5. Add the fennel seed powder, cumin seed powder and all spice powder in the gravy.
  6. Dissolve the plain flour in some water and add in the gravy. Move spoon.
  7. After the gravy has thickened, return the meat in the gravy and cook for 20 minutes.
  8. Garnish with green chilies, fresh coriander and ginger.
  9. Serve hot.
