Namak Paray (Namak Pare)

Ingredients

  1. Plain flour (Maida) 1/2 cup
  2. Salt 1/2 tsp
  3. Oil/Ghee/Clarified Butter 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  4. Ajwain seeds (Carom seeds) 1/4 tsp
  5. Water as required for kneading
  6. Oil for frying

Recipe

  1. In a bowl add plain flour, salt and carom seeds mix it, then add oil and water to make a hard dough.
  2. Cover and keep for 1/2 hour.
  3. Dust the surface with a little flour, roll the dough really thin.
  4. Now take a sharp knife and cut into namak para shapes (Diamond Shapes) at 1 inch distance.
  5. The oil should be hot, add each piece and fry it on low to medium flame till golden.
  6. Once it is cooked it will float on the top of the oil.
  7. Serve hot.
